Dry Needling
My physio is based in Capalaba and is one of the most trusted practices for dry needling and pain management. Our google reviews show how we have helped many of our patients achieve their goals by reducing pain levels and restore normal range of motion following the dry needling treatment.
Dry needling involves inserting a thin filament needle into soft tissue to stimulate healing, reduce pain, and restore healthy physiology. The aim of dry needling is to achieve a twitch response to release muscle tension and pain. This technique is unequalled in finding and eliminating neuromuscular dysfunction that leads to pain and functional deficits.
What Will I Experience?
The needle used is very thin, and you may not feel it enter your skin. If the target muscle is shortened or super-sensitive, you will feel a twitch response. This is very short-lasting, and patients soon learn to recognise this sensation as therapeutic, as it is followed by a feeling of pain relief and muscle relaxation.
What is the difference between Dry Needling and Acupuncture?
Dry needling is based on Western neuroanatomy and modern scientific study of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. On the other hand, acupunture is a traditional chinese medicine technique that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the skin to balance the energy flow called (QI) points. Both dry needling and acupuncture do, however, use the solid needle filament as a treatment tool.
What are the Benefits of dry needling?
Dry needling can benefit a variety of musculoskeletal problems, including but not limited to:
Headaches, Neck and back pain
